In this new Lunar Year of the Tiger, international attention has fallen once again on the plight of tigers across Asia. Much of this focus in on China where the tiger is facing extinction in the wild but is being bred indiscriminately on 'farms' in order to supply its body parts to satisfy the demand for such products as Tiger-bone Wine.
Inbred, raised in crowded, squalid captivity and eventually starved to death or simply slaughtered, the conditions these tigers are subjected to was recently exposed in the following article in the Daily Mail Online (UK) - 20 February 2010.
Farm tigers' bodies plundered to make wine
As a member of the International Tiger Coalition, Animals Asia condemns the continued farming of tigers in China and the use of their body parts in both traditional Chinese medicine and all other products, including Tiger-bone Wine.
